Family Camping Safety Rules
-
Do
not store food in your tent. (Food should be kept in your car) It attracts
animals.
-
Do
not sleep in or store clothes that you cooked food in, in your tent. They
should be kept in your car. (It can attract animals.)
-
Pick up and dispose of garbage in proper containers on a daily basis.
Garbage should not be left near (or in) your tents overnight. Everyone
should dispose of all garbage before going to sleep each night.

No
Running after dark. (e.g. games of flashlight tag)
-
At
Kettletown State Park Group Camping Area: No playing in the woods near the
steep hill overlooking the water.

No Campers :
Tent camping only
-
Keep all cooking sources (grills, charcoal, etc) at least 10 feet from ANY
tent. If you have a fire, you should have an extinguisher or water jug near
by. DO NOT leave any fires unattended.
-
No
personal campfires. Campfires/Bonfires will be started and maintained by
the Pack.
-
The
Pack will have a first aid kit and a fire extinguisher for the campfires.
-
Campfire will be extinguished at 9:30 PM.
-
Lights out/scout and siblings to be in their own tents at 10:00 PM.
-
This is Family Camping : Cub scouts must sleep with his parent/guardian
-
Be
sure to bring any medications needed for an overnight trip. (The gate to
the group camping area in Kettletown closes as dark.)
-
Leave your campsite cleaner than you found it.

BE
SAFE AND HAVE FUN!!!!!
Camping Suggestions:
-
Have at least one flashlight with fresh batteries (one per individual is
better.)
-
Keep a dry set of clothes either in the car or in a large sealed bag.
-
Bring your own roll of toilet paper (store in a ziplock bag to keep try)

Bring fresh sunscreen, insect repellent and a hat.
-
Bring a rain coat and water proof/repellent shoes. (It may not rain, but
your feet can get soaked by morning dew in the grass.
-
If
you have food in a cooler, make sure you have enough ice or add it as
needed. Keep food sealed in bags and/or containers. (Cooler soup can get
gross.)
-
Bring a pad or air mattress to sleep on. It is more comfortable and usually
warmer than sleeping on the ground.

Bring bottled water for drinking.

Bring extra garbage bags.
