Dear Pack 61 Families, I wanted to take a moment to send you an email about a couple of housekeeping items regarding the pack and the OverKnight to the Higgins Armory Museum. First, on behalf of the Pack Committee I’d like I’d like to welcome all of our new families to the pack and to welcome everyone else back for this school year. It should be a very fun year ahead. To the general stuff: • The registration fee of $50 is due at the October pack meeting. Please make checks payable to “Pack 61” and write you scout’s name on the check. (This really helps us to keep track of things!) Our Treasurer, Carman Dragone, has requested that you give your fee to your Den Leaders to collect. Our Re-chartering with the district starts in October this year and we need the registration fees so we can pay the fees to the District. • If you were at the September meeting, you heard me talk about the picture forms. This is to authorize us to have pictures of your boys put on the website, in The Voices, or even on the bulletin board in the cafeteria. If you haven’t completed the form and turned it please get a form from the website or from your den leader so we can get them to Lauren Kuzara, our Webmaster. • I’m in the process of updating the pack roster, so if I’ve sent you this email and your son has decided not to continue on with Cub Scouts, please let me know so that I can remove you from the roster and my mailing list. • Please note that we are still looking for some volunteers to help us with open postions: Committee Chair, Treasurer Understudy, Popcorn Lieutenant, Cub Scout Camping Coordinator as well as event coordinators for the Winter Carnival and summertime activities. Please see Eric Atkinson, David Sutherland or myself with questions. Remember, virtually all of the committee members have their boys graduating out of the pack in 2 years or less. Now is the time to start training our replacements. This request is going out especially to the parents of the Wolf, and Tiger scouts. About the OverKnight at the Higgins Armory Museum: • The Higgins Armory Museum is located in Worchester, MA and lots of arms and armor. The program includes a Medieval Feast, Presentation, Tour of the Great Hall, Heraldry lessons and shield making workshop, Scavengar Hunt and a Knighting Ceremony. I’ve done this with my older son and it was great fun. The boys had a great time. We have site and we can bring a minimum of 60 and a maximum of 70 people. (This means we have to pay for 60 slots, no matter what.) The date of the Overnight is March 17th, 2012 and it starts at 5:30 PM. The cost is $55 per person. We’ll open this up to Scouts and parents AND siblings AT LEAST 5 years old. For the Weblos 2 scouts, even though you will have crossed over in February, you are still able and welcome to join us on this OverKnight Adventure. • A deposit (non-refundable) of $20 per person is due when you sign up and the balance will be due at the January Pack meeting on January 20th. I would appreciate it if you can provide full payment at the time of sign up, if possible. If we get enough people from Pack 61 then we can have the museum completely to ourselves. If we don’t fill it up, then I’ll open the Overknight up to other packs. • There will be a sign up sheet at the pack meetings until the January deadline. Anyone that doesn’t have full payment in by the deadline can have their slots given to other people. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, but please do not hit the “Reply All” button. Yours in Scouting Mike Garrity Cubmaster, Pack 61 |
