OverKnight at the Higgins Armory Museum - March 17th
Worcester, MA
:

Cost: $50 per person.  We’ll open this up to Scouts and parents AND siblings AT LEAST 5 years old.  For the Webelos 2 scouts, even though you will have crossed over in February, you are still able and welcome to join us on this OverKnight Adventure.

• The Higgins Armory Museum is located in  Worcester, MA and lots of arms and armor.  The program includes a Medieval Feast, Presentation, Tour of the Great Hall, Heraldry lessons and shield making workshop, Scavenger Hunt and a Knighting Ceremony.  I’ve done this with my older son and it was great fun.  The boys had a great time.  We have site and we can bring a minimum of 60 and a maximum of 70 people.  (This means we have to pay for 60 slots, no matter what.)  The date of the Overnight is March 17th, 2012 and it starts at 5:30 PM.

• A deposit (non-refundable) of $20 per person is due when you sign up and the balance will be due at the January Pack meeting on January 20th.  I would appreciate it if you can provide full payment at the time of sign up, if possible.  If we get enough people from Pack 61 then we can have the museum completely to ourselves. If we don’t fill it up, then I’ll open the OverKnight up to other packs.

Parent Information:

Reminder: For the OverKnight program we require one chaperone for every child.

Before your Overknight:

  1. Directions to the Museum can be found at: www.higgins.org/About/directions.shtml.
  2. Please plan to arrive between 5:30-5:45. Note that the Museum is closed between 4:00 and 5:30; no early arrivals will be able to enter the building. You will enter through the main entrance and bring in all gear when you check-in.  Museum staff will give you more instructions at that time.
  3. All Children must be at least 5 years old to attend an OverKnight.  We require one adult for every family attending an OverKnight.
  4. Your group will be sleeping on the floor in our Quest Gallery (hands-on play area).  Each participant should bring a sleeping bag and pillow.  Air mattresses are allowed; tents are not.  Restrooms are located just down the hall.  Food and beverages are not permitted in this room.
  5. Please note that the fee for the OverKnight is per group, not per individual. Therefore, neither the Museum nor your leader will be able to issue you a personal refund if you are not able to attend the program.

During Your OverKnight:

  1. Chaperones MUST remain with the group at all times.  Chaperones are not allowed to leave the museum at any time, and are expected to be with the children for the duration of the program.
  2. Museum staff will explain to all members of your group that salts and oils on human hands will cause the armor to rust.  We expect chaperones to help us assure that exhibits are not touched or handled except under the direction of Museum staff.
  3. We ask that all cell phones be turned off during all programming.
  1. Smoking, alcoholic beverages, drug possession, snacks, candles, radios, portable televisions, laptops, and other audio/visual equipment are NOT permitted during the OverKnight.  Anyone who brings these items will be asked to leave the premises and a refund will not be issued.
  2. No outside food or beverage is permitted (exceptions are made in the case of food allergies; please call the Museum beforehand if you plan to bring your own food for this reason).
  3. The museum is not responsible for valuables.
