Help Wanted! Remember, Cub Scouts is 100% volunteer run. We need your help to make Pack 61 great! If you are interested in helping please contact Selena Carella! Pack Bowling Coordinator - This person needs to choose a date in April, book a lane and help coordinate a sign up sheet for the day of the event. Committee Chairperson - There are many rewarding things about being a committee chair for Pack 61. The first is getting to know so many different families in Southbury. Second, it has been the opportunity to work with the den and pack leaders to develop and run a good program for the boys. BSA provides the information and guidelines. The number of Pack 61 photos that have been in the paper over the past two years is proof of the great job being done by everyone involved. For me personally, the bonus of getting out of the house one evening each month to meet with the leaders has been something I have always looked forward to. And, occasionally having the time to car pool up to the district meeting each month is another perk…we get lots accomplished and have some good conversation along the way. As committee chair you do not have to speak to the entire pack each month at Pack Meetings…the cub masters can handle all of that. As committee chair you do put together the Pack Calendar, which is pretty well defined, the dates shift around each year based on the school schedule. In February and March, our roster is updated with our council. This is done online. All of the communication between leaders is done via email. Once a month the leaders meet to plan ahead. The agenda for the meeting is set by the committee chair and is based on several years of notes and set events. A complete record of the past two years, organized by month is available. I spend about 6 hours a month actively typing or gathering info for this position. It is far less time consuming than being a den leader. If you would like to see the materials and learn more about this position, please contact me. It is important that I transition out of this position by February of this year so that I can focus on my Webelos den and to give our new committee chair time to get going before I graduate out with my son. - Selena
