Centennial Quality Unit Award.
Last fall I completed paperwork showing how our
Pack has grown over the past year, and that we exceeded our goals for number
of new scouts and retaining the scouts that we have. We also have 12
leaders, all trained in Youth Protection, 80% leader essentials, and a
leader with BALOO training (allows us to can camp as a Pack). To earn the
award we are required to provide meetings and outings throughout the year
(monthly) and to have a minimum of 50% attendance at each. Our den leaders
are doing a great job with their boys!
I then met with our Unit Commissioner to show him
this paperwork, as well as to discuss other dynamics of our Pack--Community
Service becoming a huge one. Please view the
"Local Service" link to see all that they boys are doing, and photos
that speak for themselves. This information was then reviewed by CT Rivers
Council leaders to either approve or not.
On Tuesday, February 12, 2008 I will present both
PES principal, Mrs. Keepin, and PTO President, Kelly Gurvis, with a pin to
thank them for chartering our Pack and to share with them "the State of Pack
61."
Thank you to everyone who has gotten up early,
stayed out late, stood in the cold, rain, sleet, or snow, slept on a very
hard surface, and said "Yes, I can help with that." Without the parents,
this program would not be what it is.
Sincerely,
Selena Carella
Committee Chair
