Welcome to Webelos! The Webelos handbook is the place to start this summer. Parents, be sure to read your part “Webelos Scout Parent Guide” (pages 1-22) and initial on page 49, #1. The boys have three Activity Badges to work on for the summer. For June it is Traveler (page 461), in July the boys should complete their Aquanaut (page 83), and for August the Naturalist (page 317) badge is to be completed. For each of the Activity badges described in the handbook, a great deal of information is provided for the boys themselves to read thru. It is a good starting point for completing each activity and sparking interest. Be sure they are using the handbook as their guide. Webelos I Den 2 Meeting Schedule Thursday meetings will be at 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Wednesday meetings will be at 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Locations will vary depending on activities. I will get those details figured out shortly and/or as we go along. Den Meetings
This year we will have an Activity Badge Counselor. This will be a parent who will meet with the boys individually during den meetings to review/discuss the work they’ve completed on a badge. If you are interested in helping in this area, please let me know. In September, we will begin the work to earn the Webelos badge as outlined on pages 49-51. If all goes well, we should be able to award the boys this badge/rank in December. Den meetings will be held 3 times a month. Two of the meetings will be on Thursdays after school, one will be Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. The schedule will be out during early August and as weather permits, we’ll meet outside. Always check the Pack Calendar so you have details on upcoming Pack Events. For this year, boys should…. □ always bring their handbooks to all den and pack meetings □ wear their pack T-shirts to Thursday den meetings (school too) □ wear their uniforms to Wednesday night den meetings □ wear full uniform to pack meetings (shirt with patches on, hat, belt, neckerchief, jeans) Pages 32 thru 37 helps explain where to put patches, advancement, etc. Additional Advancement Opportunities There are academic and athletic beltloops and pins, religious emblems, and much more available to all of the boys to earn on their own. Please follow the "Links" button on the homepage and see the information under "Achievements" for details. |
